Synergy Language Exchange – Algeciras
Our flagship program is “Synergy Language Exchange” in Algeciras, Spain. We proudly boast 12 years of experience providing this weekly service. Every Wednesday night our volunteers welcome newcomers and others who want to connect through shared language learning. Cultural events and excursions unite locals and internationals to share Spanish culture, practice various languages, and share different world views. The integration empowers all involved, including our local host, the Bar Convento. Thank you!
Intercultural Marathon
Strait Up was one of three Spanish associations chosen by the Anna Lindh Foundation for Mediterrean Dialogue to host an “Intercultural Marathon” event. Representatives from various organizations adressing polarization in the Strait Of Gibraltar participated, including Save the Children, Global Society Institute, influencers, activists, and intercultural mediators. The event was broadcast by the European Institue For the Mediterean in Barcelona.
International Project Outreach
International projects include a local outreach opportunty. Our international guests share their experience through workshops, presentations and networking with the local community. We have hosted an international women’s circle, a social entrepreneurship hackathon, a podcast series of young changemakers and many local workshops. We also serve local schools and associations by providing information and networking about EU funding programs and youth services.
Mentoring Youth and Associations
We have helped 40+ young people access trainings, internships and exchanges in 14+ countries. By assisting others in forming their own organizations, or finding funding for their ideas, we multiple the civic participation at home and abroad. Speaking at local schools, universities and organizations opens doors for young people to consider alternatives paths, new adventures and the importance of their voice in society.
